Nestled amidst the rolling hills and enveloped in a sense of profound peace and quiet, our Menheniot sauna offers a truly unforgettable escape. Immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature as you unwind in our handcrafted wood-fired sauna. For a truly invigorating experience, take a refreshing plunge in the private river that flows right by the sauna, completing your wild sauna cycle.

There will also be opportunities to eat around the fire with camp fire cooking and conversation. Don’t rush off after your sauna. Stay, chat and eat.

We will also be offering accommodation and a limited number of overnight camper van pitches, so you can stay the night rally unwind and sauna again in the morning!

The Sauna

Our handcrafted wood-fired sauna at Menheniot comfortably accommodates up to 8 guests, offering ample space to relax and unwind. Inside, the natural wood walls create a warm and inviting atmosphere, while large windows allow you to soak in the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

The Experience

Embrace the invigorating wild sauna cycle at Menheniot. Begin by stepping into the wood-fired sauna, where temperatures typically reach a comfortable range of 70-90 degrees. Allow the heat to gently work its magic, releasing tension and promoting deep relaxation. Once fully warmed, take a refreshing plunge in the nearby private river. This invigorating contrast will leave you feeling rejuvenated and revitalised. Finally, retreat to our designated relaxation area, where you can unwind on comfortable chairs and soak in the serenity of nature.


What to expect

At Motts Menheniot, we prioritise an experience that gets you straight to the heart of the wild sauna experience. While we don’t have dedicated changing facilities on-site, we will have somewhere to change and leave belongings and the natural beauty surrounding the sauna provides a unique and tranquil setting. Catering can be arranged for special requests – be sure to inquire when booking your session to explore this option.

Find your sauna sanctuary

Take the hayloft turning off the A38 Drive down lower clicker rd past Adrenalin quarry and the Sportsmans’ arms pub. Go under the bridge and down the hill. Drive over the bridge that crosses the river. When the rd goes up the hill to Menheniot take the small lane to the right. drive down the lane leaving Motts cottage on your right. Parking is a few metres further along in the field on the right.

Terms & conditions


Use of the sauna is done so at your own risk. We ask that you contact your GP if at all in doubt about safely using the sauna.

If any of the below apply to you (please note, this is not a comprehensive list) we advise you to seek your GP’s advice: –

  • If you’re pregnant

  • If you’ve had a heart attack or stroke

  • If you’re taking any medications

  • If you have cardiovascular conditions and/or problems

  • You have epilepsy

  • You have asthma or breathing conditions

  • High or low blood pressure

  • If you have arterial disease

  • If you have joint or muscle injury

The sauna is wood-fired and is extremely hot. Do not touch the stove, stove door, flu chimney, sauna rocks, or surrounding fire guards, and only as instructed to pour water onto the stones.

When pouring water on the rocks, start from the point furthest away from you to prevent scalding

Children of 16 years and under are not permitted to use the sauna

Alcohol and smoking are not permitted in or around the sauna.

We reserve the right to refuse admission to intoxicated persons.​

Any hanging jewellery should be removed before entering the sauna to prevent burning.

Sauna etiquette must be adhered to at all times. This includes: –

Entering and exiting the sauna with care.

Removing shoes before entering.

Sitting on a towel at all times.

Staying in the sauna for no longer than 20 min at a time (we recommend 5-15 min sessions)

Do not use essential oils in the sauna without permission.

Only swimwear may be worn in the sauna.

Nudity is not permitted.

If you are making a booking on behalf of a group, it is your responsibility to make all users aware of the terms and conditions and to practice safe sauna use, as well as making others aware of what to bring and other useful information.

We reserve the right to refuse admission for any reason that may be deemed a health and safety risk. Refunds will not be offered to anyone refused admission.
